A highly detailed restoration that has spent most of it's life in California and Arizona. Originally assembled at Chevrolet’s Oakland, California assembly plant, this 1958 Chevrolet Impala 2-door hardtop is one of only 302 Impalas built for 1958 with the Turboglide automatic transmission. Finished in Sierra Gold over Gold Tri-Color upholstery. This Impala presents nicely in highly original condition. Power is delivered by the original 348 cubic inch Tri-Power V-8 engine with triple two-barrel carburetors and other features include a highly desirable Wonderbar signal-seeking radio with dual antennae, original dealer-installed air conditioning, power steering, fender skirts, and a Continental spare-tire kit. Highly attractive and well-equipped, this 1958 Chevrolet Impala boasts unforgettable one-year-only styling and marks a great example from the model’s highly successful first year of production. As such, it marks a sought-after collectible and outstanding classic buy that you can show, drive, and enjoy!

Following up on the success of its full-size 1955-1957 passenger-car lines and their available small-block V-8 engines, Chevrolet launched new and totally redesigned models for 1958. Riding upon General Motors’ all-new Safety Girder X-member frame design, Chevy bodies were longer, lower, and wider than ever before. Featuring Motorama dream car styling cues, announced in Chevrolet advertisements as Sculpturamic Styling, included fashionable quad headlamps, neatly coved rear fenders, sculpted rear decks, and bold bright accents.
At the top of the 1958 Chevy lineup, the Impala included all standard Bel Air features and much more to attract the hungry style-conscious buyers of the era. Standard Impala features included stylized ‘Impala’ scripts and emblems, ribbed body sill panels, imitation chrome scoops ahead of the rear wheels, a two-spoke deep-dish steering wheel, a rear speaker grille, triple taillights, and multi-tone upholstery. In fact, from the A-pillar back, the Impala was markedly different from the regular Chevrolet model line and carried a clear sense of richness and distinction. When it was new, Chevrolet Chief Engineer Ed Cole summed up the Impala best as a …prestige car within reach of the average American citizen. A huge hit from the beginning, the Impala nameplate went on to grace some of Chevrolet’s most popular cars to the present day. In addition to its dramatic visual presence, the 1958 Impala body was a one-year-only design, rendering this high-style, high-content automobile immensely collectible today. In addition, with their wide variety of powerful small-block and W-head big-block V-8 power teams and the improved ride quality afforded by their revised full coil-spring suspension, these stylish cars remain very satisfying to drive today.
